Rapidly aligning multiple teams with OKRs

Virtual Offices enable you to align multiple teams rapidly with OKRs
Written By

Contrary to the common advice that you can’t align multiple teams rapidly over a short period of time using the Objectives and Key Results (OKR) approach, the recent shift to a predominately digital distributed working environment now makes it very possible to overcome this limitation.

This commonly accepted guidance predominately exists because of the sheer complexity of organising rooms and the movement of people in a physical setting. With the removal of this constraint, by using a platform like Berst, it is now possible to rapidly align large groups around OKRs and to co-ordinate a timely back brief that allows people to regroup and realign on what objectives they will try to achieve and what success looks like.

How does this work in a digital context?

In Berst you simply meet in the lobby and discuss the company’s primary OKRs. You create separate breakout rooms for the various departments/product families that you have. Then you allow teams to move to their relevant groups after the initial briefing, to discuss OKRs at the next level down. You optionally have the ability to also create team rooms, creating the environment and space for teams to move to their own teams to discuss team level OKRs.

Reversing the process to finalise your OKRs, your teams regroup as departments/product families, back briefing on what their team OKRs are. Tweaks and adjustments are discussed and changes made to the department/product family level if required. You finally follow this up by regrouping as a company to back brief the department/product family OKRs, finally tweaking and adjusting the company level OKRs based on the reality of your environment.

No rooms, no movement, just alignment.
